Castelnuovo del Garda is situated on the south-eastern morainic hills of Lake Garda and the town is home to the largest theme park in Italy and among the most famous in Europe: GARDALAND.
In ancient times it was known as Castelnuovo "Beneventum." Later it took the name of "Quadrivium", because of its geographical location (the country is, in fact, located between the four cities of Verona, Mantua, Brescia and Trento).
In the twelfth century "Quadrivium" was razed to the ground by Frederick I- Barbarossa: the population decided to build a new fortified settlement, "Castrum Novum", transformed over time to become Castelnuovo.
Softly touched by the mild conditions of Lake Garda, the climate allows the growth of lush vegetation such as olive trees, cypresses and vineyards, thanks to which the area is famous for the production of fine wines, with a production of Bianco di Custoza and Bardolino D.O.C. Typical of Castelnuovo del Garda is the wine “Moro del Castel”.
